Cupid is out with his bad shots, be alert to ward off this Valentine's week
The week-long celebrations of Valentine's Day have kicked off since February 7 with Rose Day and the Propose Day has already got celebrated.
Across the world, young people celebrate Valentine's Day on February 14, which is represented by Cupid as a symbol of love. The celebration has been promoted and globalised by market forces.

However, someone has made fun of the celebrations saying, "Valentine's Day is when a lot of married men are reminded what a poor shot Cupid really is!" Ana Claudia Antunes has written, "Sometimes, Cupid plays hard to catch, as he always got new couples to match."

According to popular literature, Cupid carries two kinds of arrows, one with a sharp golden point, and the other with a blunt tip of lead. A person wounded by the golden arrow is filled with uncontrollable desire, but the one struck by the lead feels aversion to desire only to flee away from the opposite sex.

It is also believed that Cupid had wounded himself with his own arrow and now comes to the world on February 14 to remind people of ordeal of infatuation and blind dates. But no one pays heed and most of us fall prey to wounds and torture of Cupid and even go to extent of celebrating it.

Here is my haiku on Cupid: Cupid is worthless / He's deaf blind and never fair / That's why, he's poor shot.

Here is an acrostic on CUPID that describes him: C: Chubby child with wings / U: Up on his back shoots people with arrows to fall / P: Prey to uncontrollable erotic desires which / I: In choice are beguiling and / D: Deluding.
