Each must discover his or her own way of attainment: J Krishnamurti
Discovering oneself, journeying inwards, knowing oneself and seeking inner happiness are common themes of spirituality.

The wise persons of the fore have maintained that once a person resolutely and truly starts the inner journey to self-discovery, he or she would not be turning back. Once, one tries to fathom the true purpose in life, one may be revealed of the joy of the life itself by getting a sense of deep happiness, bliss – even enlightenment.

“I have seen people weighed down with labor, performing great works, accumulating knowledge, struggling to be spiritual and yet they had forgotten the one thing -happiness- which alone gives life to the mind and nourishment to the heart,” thus wrote Philosopher Juddu Krishnamurti in one of his works.

He adds, “By setting aside what you have gained, you acquire the knowledge which will give you strength to shape your purpose, which will give you power ultimately to reach the Kingdom of Happiness which each one of you seeks.”

“Each must discover his own way of attainment. There is no other truth or other god but that goal which each one has established for himself, which cannot be destroyed by the breath of man or by the passing whims of any god,” he proposes while cautioning that if one did not have a goal created by  oneself, it would lead to superstition.

According to him, for developing individual uniqueness, one has to purify desires for the mind to be simple since simplicity is the life of freedom and the highest form of spirituality. However, each must discover his or her own way of attainment. In other words, self-knowledge is attained by embarking on a journey to self-discovery independently.
