'Fan' review: An exceptional thriller with power-packed performance and a gripping plot!
After a long time, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has stepped out of his comfort zone of a typical romantic hero to play a highly obsessive character of a 'Fan'.

The actor who plays a dual role in the film, is receiving all sorts of praises for doing something entirely different. But, will the Fan win over the hearts of his fans, is something to watch out for.

Ever since the trailer of the film has released, it has been making a buzz for all the right reasons.

Cast: Shah Rukh Khan

Director: Maneesh Sharma

Genre: Drama, Thriller

Duration: 2 hours 22 minutes

IMDb Rating: 9.1/10

The film 'Fan' is an obsessive, weird yet watchable action-thriller that shows superstar Shah Rukh Khan in a whole new light. Although, the film will remind you of Khan's previous flicks such as Darr and Bazigar, the plot of Fan is entirely different. While, in those films, the actor's obsession was for a romantic partner, Shah Rukh's FAN is crazy for his star.

Fan revolves around a Mumbai-based megastar Aryan Khanna (Shah Rukh Khan), based on Shah Rukh Khan's own character and an usual boy Gaurav (Shah Rukh Khan) from Delhi. Some footage from outside the actor's home was also shown to bring genuineness in the film. Gaurav is a huge fan of Aryan Khanna and treats him as God.

Initially, the film is all about the creepy obsessed fan Gaurav, who has an imaginary relationship with his favorite star. But, at the same time, he is street-smart, cynical and expects too much from his mega-star. After putting in much effort, Gaurav gets a chance to wish Aryan on his birthday. Ultimately, he decides go to Mumbai to meet him but things do not go according to plan.

Soon, things start getting sour for Gaurav after a short meeting with his star. His love for Aryan turns into hatred to that extent that he starts following him everywhere and starts staging crimes whose blame goes on Aryan. Incidentally, both protagonists have a huge resemblance to each other. From here, things takes a dangerous turn and the real chase begins between a fan and a star.

Fan is Khan's first release of 2016 and his performance is so good that it could even earn him the best actor's awards. Since long, the film had been in the making and got delayed due to the heavy VFX effects and several other reasons. Academy Award winning make-up artist Greg Cannom has done the make up of both the characters in the film and it is really appreciable. In fact, it is one of the reasons that makes Fan a worth watch.

Although, the plot was set years before, it was kept under wraps before the first look of Fan released. The movie has been mainly shot in Delhi and Mumbai and director Maneesh Sharma has done a great job. The film is exceptionally thrilling and Shah Rukh Khan is at his best after a long time. He has played both the roles with extraordinary uniqueness and finesse. Moreover, the plot has its own charm and direction, cinematography are unmatched.

Overall, Fan is a complete weekend dose if you are very particular about minute details. Go and give it a watch!
