Grindelwald in Switzerland's Bernese Alps amongst the most enchanting tourist destinations of the world
Grindelwald, in Switzerland's Bernese Alps, has emerged as a major tourist destination for nature lovers, adventurers, mountain climbers, skiers, hikers, filmmakers and holidayers, inform kin currently visiting it.

Close to the place is the popular Gletscherschlucht glacial gorge with paths going to signage, waterfalls and striated limestone walls with breathtaking scenes all around.

Since the late 18th century when the foreigners discovered this scenic place and circulated its spectacular photographs; the place became internationally famous with hoards of tourists and visitors flocking to it.

A good number of adventurers come to the village to climb the alpine peaks around the valley. By getting connected well by the road and railways, it has become a great tourist destination.

Now, the place is full of ski lifts, cable cars, hiking trails and alpine huts to allow tourists to explore the mountains. Today, almost the entire economy of Grindelwald is based on tourism. A rotating restaurant here is also popular destination.

The place is also popular winter tourist destination with slopes and the challenges of the Eiger glacier equally attract both the experienced skiers and the non-skiers. Here tourists indulge in activities from tobogganing to winter hiking along the extra-long tracks and trails across the Alps.

Many films and television series have been shot here since green hollow and the surrounding dominated by wondrous mountainscapes. One can find numerous lookout points and activities that can enchant you, they tell.

The place is also famous for the week-long World Snow Festival and Velogemel World Championship.

On visit to this place one gets reminded these words of Author J Sheridan Le Fanu, “There is no such sense of solitude as that which we experience upon the silent and vast elevations of great mountains. Lifted high above the level of human sounds and habitations, among the wild expanses and colossal features of Nature, we are thrilled in our loneliness with a strange fear and elation – an ascent above the reach of life's expectations or companionship, and the tremblings of a wild and misgivings.”
