Make way for PlayStation 5
If predictions of Macquarie Capital Securities analyst Damian Thong are to be believed, Sony could soon be out with the new version of their bestselling gaming console, the PlayStation 5 as early as in late 2018.

The PlayStation series has consistently been ahead in the gaming console race with PS 4 having sold 60 million units since its launch four years ago whilst Microsoft's Xbox had suffered. Japanese multinational conglomerate Sony Corporation has always been one of the top players in electronics and gaming aside of their firm foothold in entertainment and finance sectors.

With PlayStation Pro released last year, it remains to be seen whether Xbox Scorpio touted as the most advanced gaming console to be ever made, can stump both PS as well as the brand or not. Xbox Scorpio is also slated to release later this year.

Industry expert Damian Thong who has made this predictions had previously predicted the release of PS 4 Slim and PS Pro rather accurately which gives gamers and console fanatics all the more reason to get excited. It'll be equally exciting to wonder what PS 5 will be like as Sony will also have to watch out for Microsoft's Xbox Scorpio and Nintendo's Switch.

Several industry analysts are, however, of the opinion that Sony having very recently updated the PlayStation with PS 4 Pro and PS 4 Slim, is unlikely to bring in another refresh of the PlayStation, given that Sony is yet to make any formal announcement.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo 2017(E3 '17) is likely to see the unveiling of Microsoft's Scorpio Project. There are speculations galore about what Sony's probable move would be, at the same event. Damian Thong, in the meantime, remains certain about Sony's impending launch of the next-generation of the PlayStation, since all it did last year was to release two mid-generations.
